The dog, the film’s protagonist is – like all of us – full of unfulfilled yearning. In daily life, TV is the source of all information about our possible desires and needs, and it also lets the dog know what it might wish for. An orange – the embodiment of sensuality – appears on screen and tempts the dog to go looking for it – and ultimately to look for itself.
